Black Ice Women's Rugby Club was formed in the summer of 1991 by a dedicated few: Nealette Thomas, J.J. Graham, Kim Schroeder, and Dawn Comstock.

Looking to expand rugby in Colorado, their goals were to provide more competition to the Eastern Rockies Rugby Football Union and to promote a positive athletic experience for women of all ages, backgrounds, abilities, and commitment levels. They sought to emphasize the fun and excitement of rugby.

Almost 20 years later, their vision is still going strong.
